Dr. Mina Ghahremani, PhD

Senior Illustrator

Ottawa, ON

After finishing up my PhD at Queen’s University, I moved to Ottawa to investigate the beneficial symbioses between plants and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. During my research, I have always loved to present my work to an audience using scientific illustrations. I believe that graphics are the most powerful tool to convey information, and it’s important that they are accurate and properly illustrate the science behind them without making it too complicated. Overall, science is just more fun when it’s combined with art - sometimes it’s easier to look at a figure than to read multiple pages of explanation. I’ve been using the power of illustration to create scientific figures for presentations, applications, and publications, and am so excited to work with the Designs that Cell team!
